Charlotte-Mecklenburg police found a couple surprises when they responded to a “shots fired” call late Sunday night at a northwest Charlotte home.
Police say they found a dead man at the house – and nearly three dozen explosive devices.
The call came about 11 p.m. to a house in the 3600 block of Joel Turner Drive, off Sunset Road, a short distance east of Oakdale Road. Police say they arrived to find a 33-year-old man dead of gunshot wounds. Detectives say they do not think foul play was involved.
Curiously, though, they also discovered about 30 hand grenades. The police bomb squad was called and got rid of the explosives. The investigation is continuing.
